Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Another year of Bendigo domestic basketball has come to a close! Time to rest, recharge and enjoy the festive season.

From everyone at the Beavers Basketball Club, we wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year… here’s hoping it’s an absolute ‘slam dunk!’

Looking forward to seeing Team Red back on court in 2024.

Summer Season changes

A new season is on the horizon! Please read the important information below regarding the Summer 2023/24 season.

A big change has been made to the Beavers game payment policy for the Summer season. At a recent Beavers meeting, it was decided that the club would move to a ‘per season’ payment system (similar to other domestic basketball clubs). There will no longer be game day payments. This change has been made due to a change of policy by the Bendigo Basketball Association.

For the 2023/24 summer season, players will need to pay a one off $150 payment to cover summer season games. This payment is in addition to the $20 club fee paid when registering to your team.

From the Winter 2024 season, the game fee will be added to the club fee and payable upon registration/linking to your team.

We understand that this is quite a big change and a substantial financial outlay at the beginning of the season. We are working on payment options and ask that you discuss with your team manager or email secretary@beaversbasketball.com.au or admin@beaversbasketball.com.au if you need assistance.

We also ask that all coaches and team managers please link to their teams as soon as possible to help us communicate with each team while we make this change.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As the domestic basketball year comes to a close, Beavers Basketball Club would like to wish all of our Bendigo basketball family a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and prosperous new year!

We look forward to seeing everyone back on court in ’23 for another fabulous year of Bendigo Basketball Association domestic basketball!

Fair play code

The Victorian Government recently relaunched the 2022 Fair Play Code, an update of the 2018 blueprint that sets out the standards of behaviour expected of everyone involved in sport and active recreation.

At the heart of the Fair Play Code (FPC) are five principles of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Safety and Fairness. These principles apply to everyone involved in sport in Victoria, no matter what role they play. Bad behaviour, violence, cheating and intimidation has no place in sport and active recreation in our state.

With around 2.2 million participants, 980,000 paid staff and volunteers, 12,000 sports clubs, 9,500 community sports facilities, sport and active recreation is an integral part of Victoria’s social life, and we need your help to promote the important messages of the Fair Play Code.

BBQ Success

Thanks to all who volunteered to attend the Beavers Basketball Club fundraising BBQ on Saturday at Bunnings Kangaroo Flat.

A crisp, July winter’s morning didn’t deter the DIY crowd, with the till constantly ticking over. Profits for the day exceeding $900! A great effort! Many thanks to the loyal BBQ crew on hand once again to flip the snags and represent the Beavers club!

Future Stars Development Clinics

Do you have a child currently playing in the u10 or u12 competitions? Are you coaching in these divisions and looking to develop your skills? Do you love free stuff?!

Then this is for you…

Starting 2pm Sunday April 15, 2022 and ending shortly before Junior Braves Tryouts (which start July 17), Bendigo Director of Coaching Joe Hurst, along with current Junior Braves u12 coaches will be delivering a series of fundamentals clinics.

This is the perfect opportunity for young athletes to develop their skills! It also offers a chance to get in front of Junior Braves coaching staff before the tryouts.

Coaches are also encouraged to attend to assist and support the project. Coaches who attend will gain valuable teaching skills, get exposure to current coaching trends, as well as a breakdown on how to teach basic fundamentals and movements.

Registration is required for planning purposes. Athletes and Coaches, click through here to register.

BBQ Success

Beavers Basketball Club swapped basketballs and singlets for tongs and aprons at a recent club fundraiser at Bunnings Warehouse, Kangaroo Flat.

Thanks to all who helped to make the day a success!

We are greatly appreciative of everyone’s help and also the generous support of local business. Please read the below letter, sent to Bakers Delight at Bendigo Marketplace.

On behalf of the Beavers Basketball Club may I extend our Club’s most sincere appreciation and thanks to yourself and your staff for your assistance in providing your bread for our most recent Fundraiser held on the 1st May.

The Sausage Sizzle was an outstanding success, our club members volunteered their time during the day and the whole event was a great experience.

Once again I thank you and your staff for your contribution in helping foster junior sport in Bendigo and to assist the Beavers Basketball Club in developing young children to enjoy and play our sport.

Regards

Peter Allan
