Merry Christmas!

Another year is almost done! I know, hard to believe, right?! Hands up if last time you looked at a calendar, it was October!

As the basketball summer season pauses for a well earned break and we all prepare for the coming festive season, the Beavers Basketball Club would like to take a moment to thank all its members – supporters, players, coaches, parents, followers and friends – and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Please enjoy the break, be safe on the roads and bring in 2017 in great style!

We’re looking forward to a fantastic new year – filled with many great wins, possibly a few heartbreaking losses and plenty of memorable match-ups! Keep track of the Summer season fixture here, to make sure you’re ready to go once we’re back into it!

Christmas Coaching Course

Looking for an early Christmas present for that special basketball nut in your life? How about enrolling them in the Club Coaching Course on Saturday December 17 at Bendigo Stadium?

Running from 11am-5pm, this course replaces the old Level 1 coaching qualification, and is a great way to improve your coaching skills.

The program consists of six hours of practical on court work, and one hour of online training. It is suitable for coaches of all levels looking to gain a deeper understanding of how to plan a season, structure a training session, and build on individual and team skills in both offence and defence. 

Cost for the day is $155.85. EDIT: The Bendigo Basketball Association & Beavers Basketball Club will be covering the cost of this course for any Beavers coaches who are looking to attend! Email Peter Allan for more information.

Beavers AGM

It’s that time again!

The Beavers Basketball Club Annual General Meeting will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, 2nd November, 2016. The AGM will be held in the boardroom above court 1 (access is via the court 1 grandstand) If you have a passion for basketball and would like to get involved in the Beavers Basketball Club, come along and join in!

Summer Session

A new domestic summer season is just around the corner – can you believe it’s October already?!

With grading taking place over the first 5 weeks of competition, your team’s playing time – and in some instances, where they are playing – may change. Be sure to keep an eye on the Bendigo Basketball Association website to see when your team is back on court.

Remember that all Beavers players need to be wearing our new, sublimated playing strip for the 2016/17 summer season and beyond. If you need to organise a new playing singlet, talk to your team manager or coach…and don’t forget to check out our used clothing list – to add any items that no longer fit, pick up a used singlet, shoes or any other basketball related items.

Do you have a cupboard full of near-new playing kit that no longer fits? Need to update, but can’t afford to buy new?

Click here to buy, sell or swap your second hand Beavers Basketball playing singlets and shorts, as well as basketball shoes, training tops and more. Please ensure all items you list are in good condition and genuinely worthy of re-sale (Basketball stuff only, too please)

Beavers Basketball Club will not be facilitating these transactions, so add an email or phone number so you can be contacted.

Finals fever

As the 2016 Winter competition comes to a close, it’s time to celebrate another fantastic season of domestic basketball!

And finally, BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the Bendigo Braves who also enjoyed finals success taking out the SEABL National Championship with a stunning win over Mt Gambier. A number of Braves players also represent the Beavers Basketball Club at domestic level, and we are all extremely proud of their achievements! Well done boys!

Get into the Spirit!

It’s almost that time – the WNBL Bendigo Spirit are fast approaching another action packed WNBL season!

Visit the Bendigo Spirit website to keep up to date with all the latest news, pre-season events and to check their schedule. The Spirit’s season tips off at Bendigo Stadium on Saturday October 8 versus Adelaide Lightning, so get your membership and get ready to show your support!

Plus, be at Bendigo Stadium on Saturday, October 15 to see our very own Beavers under 10 & under 12 girls play at halftime! (more on this closer to the day!)

And finally,  if you’re looking to add some polish to your coaching join Bendigo Spirit superstar, Kelsey Griffin, at Eaglehawk Secondary College on Wednesday, September 21 from 7.30-8.30 for a coaching clinic. A fantastic opportunity to meet KG and learn tips and drills for the 2016/17 summer season and beyond!

Summer Season NOW OPEN!

Entries for the 2016/17 BBA Summer Season are now open! Get your team together and enter here!

If you are entering an existing team, you can find your team code here. Some existing teams will be moving up to another age group, so please be sure to check your eligibility before you enter your team. The BBA by-laws recommend that all players play in their correct age groups, click here to check which age group you are eligible for.

All Beavers players must wear the newer, sublimated playing tops for the 2016/17 Summer season and beyond. If you need a new singlet, please talk to your team manager or coach to order a new top now to avoid delay.

Women in Basketball lunch

The Bendigo Spirit are getting set for another exciting WNBL season! Join Lisa Chesters MP at the Exchange Bendigo at 12.30pm Friday, August 19 to celebrate Bendigo’s own national women’s basketball team!
